These terms and conditions (“Terms and Conditions”) apply to all persons (“Entrants”) entering the Dewar’s Highball Challenge Competition 2025-2026 (“Promotion”), and agree to be bound by them, when entering this Promotion. The Promoter reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any given time, if the terms below change based on any circumstances beyond Promoter’s control.
Entrant(s) – Refers to all those who enter & are selected to take part in the competition, up to & including the stage event.
Shortlisted Entrant(s) – Refers to the 30 entrants selected to take part in the stage event.
Market Finalist(s) – Refers to the top 10 scoring entrants participating in the Finale.
National Winner – Refers to the winner of the finale event.
PROMOTER
- The promoter is Bacardi-Martini B.V. of Weena 505, 3013 AL Rotterdam, The Netherlands (“Promoter”). The Promoter is responsible for all administrative aspects of the Promotion (including determination of winners, prize-giving, and technical support etc.), with the assistance of local partners at the discretion of the promoter.

ELIGIBILITY & ENTRY PERIOD
- This Promotion is open to Entrants who are legal residents of the country they are participating in, who are of legal drinking age in their respective country and who shall comply by applicable local laws (i.e. Syariah in Malaysia)
- The following may not enter or win a prize: (a) employees of Promoter or its agents and their first- and second-degree family members, including but not limited to siblings, children, or cousins, and (b) anyone else who is directly or indirectly professionally connected with the Promotion or the Promoter and their family members.
- Competition submission starting date: from 1 JUNE 2025 - 00:00:00 (AST) .
- Competition submission closing date: on 20 JULY 2025 - 00:00:00 (AST)
- Any entries received after the Closing Date will not be considered for inclusion into the Promotion).
- Jury to select up to 30 entrants to take part in stage event.
- Stage event & Cocktail Taste Test: 26 JULY – 8 AUGUST 2025, to select 20 shortlisted entrants take part in the promotion phase.
- Promotion & jury visits to shortlisted entrants: 1 AUGUST 2025 - 00:00:00 (AST) to 15 SEPTEMBER 2025 - 00:00:00 (AST).
- 10 market finalists’ announcements: 4 SEPTEMBER 2025 to 6 SEPTEMBER 2025.
- Finale event with 10 market finalists; depending on the market, event to happen between 20 SEPTEMBER 2025 to 20 OCTOBER 2025. The event will involve a Dewar’s Discovery Box Challenge, where finalists will craft a twist on a classic whisky cocktail from a selection of provided ingredients and be judged by jury and consumers.
HOW TO ENTER
- To take part in this promotion, Entrants must visit dewarsdiscoverychallenge.com and complete the online registration page.
- Entrants will need to provide the following information when entering the competition via the online registration page:

- The Entrant will also need to have read these Terms and Conditions and must have ticked the box to confirm they have done so and that they agree to this document before their entry can be submitted.
- Once a submission has been completed, Entrants will land on a confirmation page confirming that their submission has been received and that they will be contacted via email after the entry period’s closing date if their cocktail is selected as a finalist in the Regional Final Events. The Promoter reserves the right to reject entries based on incomplete information being provided, inappropriate content / language, or if they otherwise fail to comply with these Terms and Conditions. Once the entry has been submitted Entrants will be unable to go back and amend their entry.
- By entering this promotion, Entrants warrant and represent (guarantee) that they know of no information, facts or circumstances related in any way to the Entrant that could reasonably be considered damaging or embarrassing to the Promoter by virtue of the association between the Promoter and the Entrant arising from this promotion.
LIMITATIONS / RESTRICTIONS ON ENTRY
- Each entrant is to propose 1 cocktail: a Dewar’s Highball
- Entrants must use a minimum 30ml Dewar’s Whisky (either 12 or 15 years old, only 15 years old for Malaysia) within each entry cocktail recipe. Entrants may include ice & garnish as additional items. Entrants must provide the sub-recipe and method of production for their cordial or any other homemade ingredients.
- Incomplete entries and entries that do not comply in full with these Terms and Conditions will be disqualified and will not be counted.
- If an Entrant is unable to compete for any reason including VISA requirements, no other Entrant can compete on their behalf/as their replacement.
- The Promoter reserves the right to vary, suspend or cancel this Promotion and/or these Terms and Conditions if it considers it necessary or appropriate to do so, including if there is any actual or anticipated breach of applicable law or if variation, suspension or cancellation is necessary due to an event outside the Promoter’s reasonable control.
- Entrants are responsible for ensuring they will be able to accept the prize(s) as set out below and in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. This includes obtaining the visa required to travel to the paid trip to South Korea. Whilst the Promoter may support to facilitate visa obtention, it shall bear no responsibility if the participant fails to obtain the visa, and the Promoter may in that case provide a reasonable compensation at its discretion.
DRINKS CONTENT STANDARDS FOR ENTRIES
- Regional & National Events: Dewar’s Whisky must be the dominant spirit ingredient by ml/oz in the recipe. Entrants may use only 12yo or 15yo and no other Dewar’s Whisky product. Entrants will be provided with a competition toolkit prior to their recipe submission, detailing the specific challenges, recipe submissions, rules and scoring criteria. If using additional spirits, wherever possible, Entrants must use Promoter group’s brands, and a full list can be found at www.bacardi.com.
- Spirits from the promoter's group (Bacardi Ltd) are to be purchased solely through an appointed distributor. No spirit bottles outside the Promoter group’s brands must be visible in pictures or assets submitted for the entry.
- The content standards set out below (“Content Standards”) apply to all Content or other information or materials provided by the Entrant. The Content Standards serve to provide examples and are not meant to be an exhaustive list of the types of Content that are unacceptable for the purposes of the Promotion.
- The Promoter expressly reserves the right to disallow or disqualify (or prevent from passing through the judging stage) any entry which it considers does not comply with these Content Standards or which it considers does not meet normal standards of taste and decency.
- By entering this Promotion, the Entrant hereby warrants, represents and undertakes that they have read and understood Bacardi Limited Responsible Marketing Principles, available upon request and substantially set out in this Section, and that the Content meets the following Content Standards:
- All Content must be legal and meet normal standards of taste and decency;
- All Content must meet all applicable requirements relating to advertising and promotions, including the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising, Sales Promotion and Direct Marketing and the Direct Marketing Association code of conduct;
- Drinks, drink names and content must not encourage, condone, promote or glamorize under-age, excessive or irresponsible consumption of alcoholic beverages or drink driving or any behaviour considered dangerous, antisocial, illegal or immoral;
- Drinks and drink names must not be derogatory or defamatory of any person, entity or institution;
- Drinks and drink names must not be obscene, offensive, hateful or inflammatory;
- Drinks and drink names must not promote violence of any kind;
- Drinks and drink names must not be sexually explicit and any accompanying photographs must not contain any nudity;
- Drinks and drink names must not harm or attempt to harm anyone, in any way;
- Drinks and drink names must not be targeted at or be likely to appeal to an audience under the age of 18 years old;
- Drinks and drink names must not promote discrimination of any kind, including but not limited to discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age;
- Drinks and drink names must not be likely to harass, upset, embarrass alarm or annoy any person;
- Drinks and drink names must not be used to impersonate any person, or to misrepresent the Entrant’s identity or their affiliation with another person or entity; and
- The use of the Content for the Promotion must not infringe the intellectual property of any person.
PROMOTER’S USE OF CONTENT
- By entering the Promotion, Entrants grant the Promoter, its affiliated companies and its subcontractors the irrevocable, perpetual (non-exclusive) permission and right to use any and all Materials, Promotion entries, photographs, videos, voice recordings and any other media relating to the Promotion or the Entrant supplied to, or captured by, the Promoter in connection with the Promotion:
- For the purposes of administering this Promotion;
- For promotional and publicity purposes in any media throughout the world, without limitation, and without additional review, compensation, or approval from the Entrant; and
- In any way in all digital and social media in connection with the Promoter and the Promotion, in each case, including transmitting, storing, publishing and processing the information and data set out in this Section 22, in such manner as the Promoter deems fit, and in its absolute discretion, including outside of their own country. - Entrants hereby agree to do such other things and execute such other documents as are reasonably requested in order to allow the Promoter to make such use of the Materials and to give effect to these Terms and Conditions. An Entrant may be asked to take part in reasonable publicity and public relations activity in connection with the Promotion.
- To the extent permitted by law, Entrants hereby waive in favour of the Promoter, and agree not to assert, any moral rights (or similar rights worldwide) in, and in connection with, their Materials.
WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION
- STAGE 1 – SUBMISSION: Entrants are invited to register and submit one recipe for Dewar’s Discovery Challenge 2025-2026 on the dewarsdiscoverychallenge.com website between 1 JUNE 2025 - 00:00:00 (AST) and 20 JULY 2025 - 00:00:00 (AST). A panel of judges will assess & score entries before confirming participation of all Entrants, with a maximum of 30 per market.
STORYTELLING:
- Name (10) - Name of the serve.
- Storytelling (20) - Story behind the serve and how effectively its conveyed (own personal discovery).
- Dewar’s (10) - How well has the storytelling been influenced by what Dewar’s brings to the serve?
VISIBILITY:
- Balance (20) - Does the cocktail display an appropriate balance of ingredients?
- Garnish (20) - Does the garnish enhance the visual or aromatic appeal of the cocktail?
- Drinkware (10) - How appropriate is the vessel to showcase the serve?
PROMOTION:
- Social media (10) – On the bartender’s personal profile - promotion of the serve (Instagram post) using #DewarsDiscoveryChallenge @Dewars.
- STAGE 2 – STAGE EVENT: The 30 Entrants will present their Highball cocktails and be scored on performance and their drink (maximum 100 points). 20 Entrants will be selected to become Shortlisted entrants to take part in the promotion phase.
PERFORMANCE:
- Storytelling (20) - Story behind the serve and how effectively its conveyed (own personal discovery).
- Technique (20) - How the cocktail is crafted, including technical skills, flair and visual impact during preparation.
- Efficiency (10) - How efficiently the cocktail can be built with consistency and speed.
DRINK:
- Visual Appeal (10) - Is the Highball visually appealing?
- Aroma (10) - Does the drink have an aroma on the nose?
- Taste (30) - Taste, mouthfeel, texture, harmony of flavors and finish of the drink.
- STAGE 3 - PROMOTION: 1 AUGUST 2025 to 15 SEPTEMBER 2025. During this time, selected bars are visited by secret shoppers and judged on the drink, visibility & engagement to select the top 10 accounts/bartenders (maximum 100 points). 10 Top scoring shortlisted entrants at the end of this period will be announced as 10 market finalists and will take part in the Finale event:
DRINK:
- Taste (10) - Taste, mouthfeel, texture, harmony of flavors and finish of the drink.
- Storytelling (20) - Is there an element of storytelling conveyed to the customer?
VISIBILITY:
- Collaterals (20) – Are there visual collaterals related to the Challenge? (secondary menu/tent cards, QR Code etc.).
- Drinks menu (10) – Is the Dewar’s range listed on the primary menu?
- Back bar (10) – Is the Dewar’s range visible on the backbar?
ENGAGEMENT:
- Promotion (10) - Recommendation of the Dewar’s Discovery Highball to the customers.
- Depletion (10) - Number of Dewar’s Highball consumed in venue - will be tracked by purchase orders from Distributor (at the discretion of the promoter) (15).
- Social media (10) - On the venue’s profile - promotion of the serve (Instagram post) using #DewarsDiscoveryChallenge @Dewars.
- STAGE 4 – FINALE – DISCOVERY BOX CHALLENGE: Minimum 5 days prior to the event the market finalists will be given information on the contents of the Discovery Box for the challenge. The 10 market finalists will prepare their Highball to be served to guests at the event, there will be a consumer vote by preference on drink and performance, with points awarded accordingly (maximum 50 points). They will also take part in the Discovery Box Challenge, where they will need to craft a twist on a whisky cocktail using a pre-shared set of ingredients. This will be judged by the panel on drink, performance and engagement (maximum 50 points). There will be one National winner and prizes for first and second runner-up.
HIGHBALL SERVE
PERFORMANCE:

- Technique (15) – How the cocktail is crafted, including technical skill, flair and visual impact during preparation.
DRINK:
- Taste (5) - Taste, mouthfeel, texture, harmony of flavors and finish of the drink.
- Aroma (5) - Does the drink have an aroma on the nose?
- Garnish (5) - Does the garnish enhance the visual or aromatic appeal of the cocktail?
DISCOVERY BOX
PERFORMANCE:
- Storytelling (5) - Story behind the serve and how effectively its conveyed (own personal discovery).
- Creativity (10) – Creative use of ingredients.
- Technique (10) – How the cocktail is crafted, including technical skill, flair and visual impact during preparation.
DRINK:
- Taste (15) - Taste, mouthfeel, texture, harmony of flavors and finish of the drink.
- Aroma (5) - Does the drink have an aroma on the nose?
- Garnish (5) - Does the garnish enhance the visual or aromatic appeal of the cocktail?
PRIZES
- List of prizes:
- SECOND RUNNER-UP PRIZE (rank 3): a bottle of Dewar’s Whisky at the discretion of the organizer
- RUNNER-UP PRIZE (rank 2): guest shift exposure in the Entrant’s country (where the contestant participated in the Promotion)
- FIRST PRIZE: Each National Winner will win paid a trip to South Korea. The prize comprises a return economy class flight from a city designated by the Organiser to Seoul, for the National Winner to arrive in 2025 (date to be confirmed – February 2026), costs of public transport to and from the designated departure city before and after the flight, the cost of transportation to and from original country (and transportation linked to activities planned by the organizer), accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner, as applicable during the dates of the trip. All other costs, including travel insurance, food and drink outside of the main trip events and meals are the sole responsibility of the winner.
- It is the winner’s responsibility to ensure he/she/they have/has a valid passport and visa, travel documents, personal travel insurance, and vaccinations in order to be able to take up the prize. This includes any relevant covid compliant tests and documentation needed for travel. The prize does not guarantee issuing of visas to the winner. The prize trip must be taken on the dates organised by the Promoter. Rearranging the dates due to the winner being unavailable for any reason will not be possible.
- The prizes do not include any personal expenditure, any incidental costs or any amount other than those specifically included in Section 36. It is the personal responsibility of each winner to notify local fiscal authorities of the country of his/her/their residence on the nomination and / or receipt of any prize hereunder as well as to pay all applicable taxes.
- The Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prizes (or any part thereof) for a prize or prizes of equivalent or greater monetary value if this is necessary for reasons beyond its reasonable control. There is no cash alternative to the prizes (or any part thereof) and unless the Promoter agrees otherwise in writing; the prizes are non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Top 5 finalists are to share their details from the announcement date to initiate the visa process.
- Third party terms and conditions apply to parts of the prize. Winners are solely responsible for ensuring they are familiar with such third-party terms and conditions.
LIABILITY
- The Promoter accepts full liability for death or personal injury caused by the Promoter’s negligence, or loss caused by a false statement of the Promoter, where the statement is made fraudulently, or for any other losses that cannot be excluded at law. Otherwise, the following exclusions of liability will apply. References to the “Promoter” in this Liability section include all of the Promoter’s associated companies, agents or any other third party assisting the Promoter in the Promotion.
- The Promoter will not be responsible for (and will have no liability in connection with) the following occurrences, to the extent that they occur for reasons beyond the Promoter’s reasonable control:
- Any postponement or cancellation of the Promotion
- Any changes to the prizes or the way in which they can be used;
- Problems with the dispatch of prizes (such as a prize failing to reach the intended recipient); and
- Any act or default of any third-party supplier
- Without limiting the generality of the previous section, Promoter shall not be held liable for any failure or delay in fulfilling any obligations in these Terms and Conditions, if such failure or delay is due to circumstances beyond Promoter’s reasonable control, including, but not limited to, if Promoter determines, in its sole discretion, that it is advisable to cancel or postpone any scheduled event (or prize) in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 or any other communicable illness.
- The Promoter does not accept responsibility for network, computer, hardware or software failures of any kind, which may affect the sending, receipt or processing of an entry or for entries lost, damaged, delayed or unreadable, including loss of entries through technical fault or transmission delays.
- If the Promoter has grounds to suspect any Entrant or third party of cheating, deception or fraudulent or unsportsmanlike conduct of any kind (including, without limitation, manipulating the promotion, choice of prize winner(s) or any entry (or establishing multiple registrations in order to gain multiple entries where the number of entries is limited) the Promoter reserves the right (in its sole discretion) to disqualify any Entrant, entry or person it reasonably believes to be responsible for, or associated with, such activity
- The winner should be in good health and appropriately fit for travel and waives any claim they may have against the Promoter for any safety or health issue or problem they may have during travel.
- The Promoter shall not be liable under these Terms and Conditions, whether in contract, tort (including negligence) for breach of statutory duty or otherwise:
- for any loss of profit, saving, business or economic loss (in each case whether direct or indirect); or
- for any indirect, special or consequential loss.
PERSONAL DETAILS AND PUBLICITY
- As set out in Section 10, the Entrant must accept the Promoter’s Privacy Policy and, and also has to agree to the Marketing Statement on the Registration Page.
- Promoter reserves the right (at any point and in its sole discretion) to conduct a background check and to disqualify any individual if, based on the results of the background check – or on an individual’s other actions or statements – Promoter concludes that the individual will not be a good representative for the Dewar’s brand.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
- All intellectual property rights (including, without limitation, copyrights, database rights, trademarks, designs, logos, text, images, audio and video materials, look and feel and software (including code, interface and website structure)) in the Content, any press, online or offline articles or videos directly or indirectly connected with the Promotion or the Promoter group’s brands, (“IP Materials”) are owned by the Promoter (or its subsidiaries, affiliates, agents or partners). Where the Entrant owns any intellectual property rights in the IP Materials it hereby assigns them to Promoter (or its designated assignee) with full title guarantee free from encumbrances.
- The IP Materials are protected by intellectual property laws and treaties around the world.
- All rights in the IP Materials are reserved and it is strictly prohibited to remove any copyright or other proprietary notices from any IP Materials.
- Entrant also agrees that Promoter and its affiliates may use photographs and recordings of the Entrant taken in relation to the Promotion and his/her name and likeness and other personal data for any editorial trade, product advertising and other business purpose in any manner and medium and that Promoter and its affiliates may use the Entrant’s personal data obtained in relation to the Promotion as necessary in relation to the Promotion or otherwise in accordance with the Promoter privacy policy accepted by the Entrant in accordance with Section 10.
- This Promotion, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it (including the prizes), shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, and Entrants irrevocably agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle such dispute of claim.
- If any part of these Terms and Conditions is or becomes invalid, illegal or unenforceable, the validity, legality and enforceability of the rest of these Terms and Conditions will not be affected. The Promoter’s failure to enforce any provision of these Terms and Conditions will not constitute a waiver of that provision.
